ar X iv : h ep - l at / 0 11 01 30 v 1 1 6 O ct 2 00 1 1 QCD spectroscopy with three light quarks

We report about a simulation using three dynamical Wilson quarks and on the progress in going to small quark masses.

A system of two static quarks, at fixed distances r, and two light quarks is studied on an anisotropic lattice. Excitations by operators emphasizing quark or gluon degrees of freedom are examined. The maximum entropy method is applied in the spectral analysis. These simulations ultimately aim at learning about mechanisms of hadronic interaction.

The experimental status of light vector meson spectroscopy is discussed. The last results of e + e − experiments obtained at the VEPP-2M collider in Novosibirsk are described and the comparison with the old data in the mass region from 1 GeV to 2.5 GeV is performed.

The heavy-quark expansion for inclusive semi-leptonic B decays introduces Λ̄ and λ1, which are matrix elements in heavy-quark effective field theory. We review how they can be obtained from an analysis of the heavy quark mass dependence of heavy-light meson masses in lattice QCD.
